Jean-Baptiste Lully(1632-1687), Italian/French composer, born in Italy, moved to France in 1646, served as Italian conversationist in the household of Mlle. de Montpenister, studied music and became a member of the King's private orchestra, organized secound group and made it the best orchestra in France. He composed stage works, incidental music and dance music.
